DSE:  Display Screen Equipment                        COSHH:  Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health

Risk Assessments are the most important element of Health and Safety.    They are what make a Health and Safety system meaningful.

The five steps to Risk Assessments are:

Step 1 Identify the hazards

Step 2 Decide who might be harmed and how

Step 3 Evaluate the risks and decide on precautions

Step 4 Record your findings and implement them

Step 5 Review your assessment and update if necessary

Every organisation should have a Register of Risk Assessments covering all aspects of their work.  If you get this right, you can be secure in the knowledge that you are doing all you can to ensure the health and safety of everyone who comes into contact with your business.

We can assist you in identifying all the hazards associated with your work, and design Risk Assessment forms which suit your organisation’s needs.  We do not believe in the “one size fits all” approach.

Compiling a Register of Risk Assessments is an ongoing process which requires monitoring and review.  It has to be kept “live”.  And there are different types of Risk Assessments, for example:

Display Screen Equipment and Workstation assessments – vital for anyone working at a desk and using a computer.

COSHH Assessment used to assess the risks from any substances used OR produced by an organisation in order to ensure their staff and customers etc are safe from any ill-effects.

The list goes on and on...
